What has this world become? Does it repeat itself?
Belle is certainly correct about people focusing on the negative. On the whole people today live in a media driven society. Stories sell papers and sadly tales of disaster, war and woe sell more than stories of people being nice to each other. Perhaps it is in our nature to need to know that there is always someone worse off than ourselves, be it in a war-zone, a natural disaster or as the victim of a crime. We see it on our tv's, read it in our newspapers, debate with friends and colleagues how terrible the world is and how if we were in charge, we'd do it better. Then we say a silent prayer that we're glad it's not us. On the whole, we're not such a terrible species. We're just selfish. Who isn't?
